I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
Latest Prayer Requests
1. Joy and sadness. Graeme and Lilithe Mshweshwe were full of rejoicing at the recent birth of new son, but their joy has been somewhat marred by the death at the weekend of Lilithe's father. Graeme is a Free Church student studying at Dumisani, and Lilithe works as a receptionist. Please uphold Graeme and Lilithe during this time of mixed emotions.
2. Struggling students. This semester we have heard from at least one very promising student that the demands of his employer means that he will have to suspend his studies for the time being. This reminds us of the many pressures some students experience, and partly explains why some complete their studies over a protracted period. Others can only manage to be part-time students, squeezing as much study as possible into an already busy schedule. Praise God for the enthusiasm so many exhibit, and pray that they can balance their different responsibilities.
3. New building proposals. Dumisani Theological Institute staff and faculty cope with the considerable limitations of their current buildings - an old Anglican church, and two somewhat decrepit houses on the other side of the street. If necessary, in order to serve the Church in the Eastern Cape, they are willing to continue to work out of these properties, but now there are hopes for a new Dumisani building, housing a lecture hall, class rooms, library, faculty rooms and administration under one roof. It's not quite time to unveil the plans but for the time being please join us in praying for wisdom and guidance as the initial planning continues.
4. Engagement. Dumisani administrative assistant, Homabakazi Tshandu and one of Dumisani's mature students, Fizikele Mathiso, have announced their engagement. Their marriage is planned for early November. Thank God for bringing our two friends together and ask that he will bless the home they will establish together, that it will become a model of what a Christian home should be.
5. Local ministry. Each weekend many Dumisani students and staff members preach and teach in churches in the area . Give thanks to God for this opportunity of passing on what we have learned and pray for God's enabling and the Spirit's power so that the Word preached becomes a blessing to those who hear.
